Why Academic Researchers Resist Gantt Charts (And Why They're Wrong)

The common objection is that research is non-linear and unpredictable, so scheduling it is futile. This confuses two separate things: the uncertainty of research findings and the manageability of research process.

Treat conferences as milestones. Abstract submission deadlines and conference presentation dates are fixed points. Work backward from them to create presentation preparation tasks.
