TeamGantt Alternative: gantt-chart.io vs TeamGantt
TeamGantt has been a reliable project timeline tool for a long time. Its interface is clean, task dependencies work well, and the baseline tracking is useful for projects that need to compare planned vs. actual timelines.
The problem most teams hit: cost. TeamGantt's free plan limits you to one project with three users and no resource management. The Pro plan starts at $19/month per manager (viewers are free), which is reasonable for a dedicated PM tool — but steep for teams that only need Gantt charts occasionally or want to give everyone edit access without per-seat pricing.
This comparison covers gantt-chart.io vs TeamGantt across the features that actually drive the decision.

Where TeamGantt Wins
Baseline tracking. TeamGantt lets you save a project baseline — a snapshot of the original planned dates — and compare it to where the project actually stands. This matters for formal project management where schedule variance needs to be measured and reported. gantt-chart.io doesn't have this.
Resource management. TeamGantt's Pro plan shows who is allocated to what and flags overloaded resources. If you're managing people's time across multiple projects, this prevents double-booking. gantt-chart.io is timeline-focused and doesn't track resource capacity.
Critical path visualization. TeamGantt highlights the critical path — the sequence of dependent tasks that determines the project's minimum duration. Shortening any critical path task shortens the whole project. gantt-chart.io shows dependencies but doesn't calculate or highlight the critical path.
PDF export. TeamGantt can produce a formatted PDF of the Gantt chart suitable for client reports or status updates. gantt-chart.io exports CSV for data portability and supports PNG via browser print, but not a styled PDF.
Where gantt-chart.io Wins
AI timeline generation. Describe your project in plain English — "12-week product launch: discovery phase, design sprint, engineering, QA, soft launch, full launch" — and gantt-chart.io builds the Gantt chart automatically. TeamGantt requires entering each task manually. For teams that frequently create new project timelines from scratch, AI generation saves 30-60 minutes per project.
Flat pricing. gantt-chart.io charges per subscription, not per seat. Your whole team edits and views for one flat price. TeamGantt charges per manager account — the more people who need edit access, the more it costs. For teams of 4+ where everyone touches the timeline, flat pricing wins on cost.
No credit card to start. gantt-chart.io's free plan gives you 1 saved project and unlimited tasks with no card required; downloads and more projects are on Solo ($12/month). TeamGantt's free plan also doesn't require a card, but limits you to one project and three users — which most teams outgrow immediately.
Simpler interface for standard use cases. TeamGantt has more features, which means more configuration surface. For teams that need a timeline with dependencies and nothing else, gantt-chart.io's focused interface is faster to work with.
