Common Pitfalls

Curriculum overload: Buying curriculum for eight subjects creates a workload that's impossible to sustain. 4–5 focused subjects done consistently produce better outcomes than 8 subjects covered sporadically.
No tracking of completed lessons: Without a record of what was completed, it's impossible to know whether you're on pace for the year. A simple checklist per subject is enough.
Re-doing first quarter every year: Families who don't review the prior year repeat the same mistakes in curriculum selection and scheduling. The summer planning phase should include an honest retrospective.
