About this website redesign plan
Redesigns run late for two predictable reasons: content arrives after design is finished, and redirects from old URLs are forgotten until search traffic drops. This plan gives both their own rows.
It fits a marketing site of a few dozen pages built by a small team or agency.
Who it's for: Marketing teams, web agencies and freelancers.
How to use it
- Open the plan. Click Open in the editor to load the redesign as a Gantt.
- Overlap content and design. Unlink copywriting from design so it starts as soon as the sitemap is set. In the task panel, remove the predecessor, then set the new start date. Then check that the task that came next still lists the earlier work as a predecessor, so delays keep cascading.
- Assign client and agency owners. Use owners to show which tasks wait on the client, such as content and sign-offs.
- Share a read-only link. Clients see progress without logging in.
Planning tips
- Write the redirect map before launch; changed URLs without redirects lose search traffic.
- Content is the most common blocker; start it early.
- Include accessibility checks in QA rather than after launch.
